auto-advance should now be working for iOS.
but if you're not getting even the first track to start playing, then we have another problem... 8-)

Is it possible to turn off the auto advance feature on an iPad? I mainly listen at night and prefer the player to stop after each episode so I don't drain the battery playing all through the night.

i have a 4th gen ipod device that i got for christmas 2012 specifically to use this site instead of the computer to listen to streaming greateful dead. it worked for a while (like dec and jan) and now it doesn't. there is no play button anymore. the problem is that before it only worked with the "old player" which i guess now would be the doubly old player. i don't get the play button to appear on the screen and when you tap on any individual file on the list it doesn't start to play.
please advise.
it also seems to load pages a lot more slowly.

thought i'd wait patiently while maybe the bugs got worked out. however, i'm still not having much success straming concerts on my i pod. i can play tunes when they are listed individually as mp3 files (for example, i can search under the steve kimock band and bring up only shows that have mp3 files and then click on them one at a time and play them.) that is not useful for stream only shows such as the dead. the play traingle button does not appear. also, if you click on the m3u file it starts to stream for awhile but then cuts out after about 10 minutes. this seems to have ebbn aproblem bfore because i saw others having the same difficulty in the forums ina round 2011.

also, another problem is that the speaker icon on the play bar only works as an on off/ mute switch where as before it used to work as a volume control. i can use the volume control on my computer's mixer, but even when i put it on as low as it goes, it's still too loud (depending what i'm aslo doing at the time).

thanks

partial answer -- for the volume control, I think you are talking about a PC not iPod at that point, and I think from what you say it's using the "flash plugin" route (maybe MSIE browser or an older browser).

For audio items, the volume control is a slider but only when using a newer browser that can use the "html5 route" (you can discern which it's using by right clicking -- the longer typical flash menu means flash plugin). Is your browser capable of playing .mp3 files?

yes, for the second part i wsa talking about streaming on a PC since (per the first part) the ipod isn't doing the job.

i think you are right about it depends on the browser because at work ( a new computer) if i hover over the speaker icon, the slider appears. at home that doesn't happen and that's a much older computer. i will try updating to ie 9.

thanks for the help.

Well it works now if you go and click the audio files under the player( individual files) but still nothing else works. And those are the same problems I had with mine as well. But like I said it works with the individual files. :)

thanks for trying that test page.

ok, this is the one that looks iphone-like but thinner/lighter/cooler, right? (nice taste! 8-)

I just brought up this page
http://archive.org/details/JohnMayer2010-03-06.DPA4021
on that device and everything was fine.
iOS devices don't allow autoplay in most circumstances -- so you have to click the play icon or click a track song name under the player to start it. once play has started, it will autoadvance to the next song.

can you let me know if that clears things up?

Yeah it works but only when I click the audio files under the player.
